Inspiring Friendship Story - Ruby's Roses

The neighborhood kids nicknamed the cranky old couple Crazy Jack and Ruby Rednose. Rumor was that they sat inside and drank whiskey all day. It was true that Jack and Ruby Jones preferred to keep to themselves. About the only words we ever heard from them were "Keep out of our rosebushes!"

The rosebushes were seventy beautiful floribunda shrubs that served as a fence between our house and theirs. The rose fence took quite a bit of abuse, since our house was the neighborhood hangout. I was eleven at the time and the oldest of six active girls. We should have played our softball games elsewhere to avoid hurting the roses, but we secretly enjoyed irritating Crazy Jack and Ruby Rednose.

Jack and Ruby had a son whom we nicknamed Crazy Jack Junior. He was due to come home from Vietnam. We heard he had been discharged because of a nervous breakdown. The neighborhood had thrown a big party for Jimmy Brown when he came home from the war, but no one offered to have a party for Crazy Jack Junior.

The day Crazy Jack Junior was scheduled to come home, we had a neighborhood softball game in our yard. Johnny McGrath was trying to catch a fly ball. He stumbled over one of Ruby Rednose's thorny rosebushes and fell on top of several more. Boy, did he yell, but the roses were the ones that really suffered. From my vantage point at second base, it looked like about ten of them were damaged pretty badly. Johnny's timing was terrible, because as he lay there swearing at the roses, the Joneses' pickup rolled into the driveway. The truck screeched to a halt and Crazy Jack Junior sprang out. He ran full speed toward Johnny.

"You little punk!" he screamed. "Look what you've done to our family's roses! You've always been trouble. I'm going to fetch my gun and shoot you!"

The next few minutes were a blur. The neighborhood kids ran for their lives. Ruby and Jack tried to restrain their son. He continued to yell threats and profanities. Ruby wasn't my favorite person, but I felt sorry for her when I saw her tearfully pleading with Crazy Jack Junior. Finally, they coaxed him inside.

Meanwhile, my sisters and I tore into our house. Breathlessly, we told Mom what had happened. She put down her sewing and scolded, "Girls, I have told you not to play softball near those bushes. Come outside right now and help me fix them."

"Mom, we thought you didn't like the Joneses," we protested. "They're mean to us. Besides, Crazy Jack Junior might shoot us."

Mom just glared at us. We followed her outside to help mend the rose fence.

While Mom examined the damaged roses, my sisters and I hung back, plotting how to get out of the thorny job. As we whispered back and forth, the Joneses' garage door opened and Ruby slowly walked out. She looked sad. And it wasn't her nose that was red, it was her eyes.

Ruby walked over to my mother. The two women stood looking at each other through the new gap in the rose fence. We girls held our breath, waiting to see who would shout first and what terrible things would be said. How much trouble would we be in when it was all over?

Suddenly my mother stepped forward and hugged Ruby. "I'm glad your son came back home," she said gently. "It must have been a horrible experience in Vietnam. We're sorry about the flowers. The girls will replace them if we can't fix them. In return for all the bother, they'll help you weed the roses this summer."

My sisters and I looked at each other in horror, but Ruby smiled at my mother through her tears. "I know we're particular about these roses," she said, "but they're very special to us. When my mother came from England, she brought one tiny part of her favorite rosebush. That was her reminder of home."

She paused a minute, then said sadly, "My mother had a magic touch with flowers. Over the years that one plant multiplied into all these bushes. Since she died, I've tried to keep them up, but I just don't have her magic touch."

Her voice was all choked up. "Mom died while Jack Junior was in Vietnam. He just found out about her death today. When he saw her rosebushes damaged, it was the last straw."

Ruby mopped at her tears. "Once we got him inside and calmed down, he admitted he's out of control. Jack just drove him to Clinton Valley to be admitted to a treatment program."

By now I felt really bad for the Jones family - what a sorrowful homecoming! I could tell my mother and sisters felt the same.

"We all enjoy the roses as much as you do. We'll be happy to help you care for them," my mother said. "You know, some people say I have a magic touch with flowers, too."

Soon both women were down on their knees talking and examining the damaged bushes together. A few weeks later, the plants all returned with vigor. My mother and Ruby worked together on the roses all summer long and many summers to follow. So did my sisters and I. A friendship formed between the families that would include countless birthdays, graduations and weddings - including Jack Junior's.

Years later, when her son left home and her husband died, Ruby became part of our family, spending many happy hours at our house. She wasn't Ruby Rednose anymore; she was Aunt Ruby. And the rose fence wasn't a fence any longer. My mother had turned it into a bridge.

True Friendship Poem

If Ever You Need Me

If ever you need me
I will always be there

If ever you need a friend
I want you to know I care

If ever you need to cry
I promise to cry with you

If ever you need someone
My heart will shine for you

If ever you cannot see the sun
Only clouds up in the sky
I will hold your hand
I will help you see life in God's eyes

If ever you think
No one is there
You have Jesus love
He will carry your despair

If ever you wonder where God is
I will help you find the way
All things are done for a reason
I will help you pray.

Remember, you are like a sister
I understand your grief
When someone you love
Needs much relief

If ever you need me
I will be by your side

Jesus never forgets you
For He also cries

You have always
Been there for me
Now it is my turn,
To help you see butterflies are free

Do not feel unhappy
Or lost inside your heart
Remember Jesus loves you
I can feel His arms
He is with you forever
He will leave you never

If you need me, I will know
Whatever happens let your fear go

If you ever need me
I am always here
I will pray for you always
Because you are so dear.

Just Friends VS. Best Friends

A Just Friend says..hi,..hello, ..bye,... and walks away...
A Best friend always stop by your side & asks how r u doing ??

A Just Friend has never seen you cry.
A Best friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.

A Just Friend thinks the friendship is over, when you have an argument.
A Best friend knows that it's not a friendship, until after you've had a fight.

A Just Friend hates it when you call, after he has gone to bed.
A Best friend asks you.... why you took so long to call.

A Just Friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A Best friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself.

A Just Friend jealous about your romantic history.
A Best friend wonders of your love story.....

A Just Friend expects you to be always there for any help.
A Best friend is always there, wherever you require any help.

A Just Friend doesn't have time in his/her busy schedule,
A Best friend always have time for you in his/her busy schedules... .

A Just Friend phones you whenever he/she has some work,
A Best friend calls you often just to hear your voice.....

A Just Friend doesn’t have anything to talk to you on phone,
A Best friend doesn’t know...what all to finish...

A Friendship Prayer

God, I come to your throne for prayer
Knowing that you are always near
You always know what's on my mind,
For you are always right on time.

I have so many dear loving friends
Some in need, others hurt so much,
Would you please just stop by today,
To let them feel your loving touch

I just leave them in your loving care
As I kneel before you, I leave a prayer.
That You will supply each need today,
They will know you are not far away.

I leave them now in your strong arms
Knowing Lord, your will be done,
All things happen, it is your plan,
Someday in glory we will understand.

Friends stand by when we're in need
How nice to feel friends gentle breeze,
I give God thanks for each one so dear,
Friends are special, God answers prayer.

Friendship Facts...

A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact,
or maybe like a brand new gate
that never comes unlatched.

A friend is like an owl,
but beautiful and wise.
or perhaps a friend is like a ghost,
whose spirit never dies.

A friend is like those blades of grass
you can never mow,
standing straight, tall, and proud
in a perfect little row.

A friend is like a heart that goes
strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend?

I Have A Friend!!!

I have a friend with a loving heart
She is not blind to me, but with her soul she sees
When my tears were falling with the rain
Into my life this angel came

I have a friend sent with a prayer
To get me through the life out there
She brings in the sun forever and a day
In my room she put a chime
To make sure I would be okay

I have a friend who taught me to breathe
Life is now not just a part of the life I lead
She opened my shutters
The light came through
Into my heart, now I can live
My path I always knew

I have a friend, an angel to me
She found who I am and who I will be
A gift from God, a treasure to see
She saw the beauty which is in me.

Friendship Is…..

Friendship is not important with whom you have it…
Friendship is… how deep you have it,

Friendship is not how much you know….
Friendship is… how much you care,

Friendship is not how much you make happy…
Friendship is… how much you share sorrows,

Friendship is not how many times you reach your hand…
Friendship is… how many times you touch the heart,

Friendship is not how precious thing you give…
Friendship is… how much sensitive things you offer,

Friendship is not an achievement…
Friendship is…one beyond your destination,

Friendship is not just sharing the joy…
Friendship is… love in sharing the tears,

Long live our Friendship…..
Ever ending one… To YOU

Friendly Thoughts

In thoughts--I often visit you
And we share a laugh--or two
And talk of things we both hold dear
Like memories--both old and new.

We share our heartaches, and our joys,
Cause that's what friends are for.
Knowing we can be "ourselves"
To hearts with an "open door".

Advice is free, and its meant to be
A caring gesture of love.
With never a judgment for our mistakes,
But a haven from life's push and shove.

Though time and miles stretch between us.
With contentment, I've found what I sought.
As I smile---and sigh in remembering.
My visits to you----in a thought.

Beautiful Friendship Messages

Beauty is start of life,
beauty is art of life,
risk is part of life,
and good friend is heart of life

Count our Life By Smiles, not Tears;
Count our Age By FRIENDS, Not Years.
There's a golden bridge called Friendship
That spans the river time,
And it links our hearts together ,
Though seperate roads we climb.

I may not be.. -The *Prettiest* girl alive- -
The *Richest* girl alive- -Or the *Smartest* girl alive- ..
But I do know Im.. -The *-luckiest-* girl alive- ..
Because I have the best friends by my side....

Friends To Make Our Lives Better

Its not easy becoming a friend or making one because a friend is not a state of mind. Its real and its in your face. A friend is someone who makes your life worth its while a little more than yesterday. While everybody has their own definitions of a "friend", the long and short of it is we all need friends to make our lives better. We at TheHolidaySpot value our friendship as much as you do and would like to share our ideas of how to become an ideal friend with you, for if wasn't for you we wouldn't be where we are today.

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY...

In friendship "honesty" is the key word. One should always be honest to his or her friends.
Don't overlook their faults, even if you have none for you are his friend!
Praise them honestly and openly.
Say you're sorry, when you hurt your friend. Don't let them assume it.

GIVE MORE THAN YOU TAKE...
Be there when they need you or you may wind up alone.
Love them unconditionally, that is the only condition. Make them feel special, because aren't we all special?
Never forget them, who wants to feel forgotten.

BE SUPPORTIVE...

Cheer them on, we all need encouragement now and then.
Encourage their dreams and aspiration, Life seems almost meaningless without them.
Your words count, use them wisely.
Use good judgement.
Wish them luck, hopefully good
Eamine your motives before you "help" out
Just be there when they need you
Really listen, a friendly ear is a soothing balm

FORGIVENESS...

Forgive them for, "To Err is Human", and you just may end up making the same mistakes in course of time..

KEEP THE FAITH...

Have faith in them. For, there is no love without trust.
Zip your lips when they confide in you

EXPRESS YOURSELF CLEARLY

Know when they need a hug, and couldn't you use one?
Offer to help, and know when " No thanks" is just politeness
Quietly disagree, noisy No's make enemies
Verbalsise your feelings

HAVE FUN...

Get together often, misery loves company, so does glee.
Talk frequently, communication is important.

Enjoying your friendship is the order of the day. So its not what we call a friendship if you don't feel right.
Always remember a friendship is worth it when you are able to enjoy the amazing relationship with no holds barred. Its a mutual bond for life that you cant give up.

Special Friendship Messages

Wonderful people r carefully created by God,
wonderful moments are carefully planned by God,
wonderful friends like you are carefully gifted by God
******************************************************
Hundred words does not give pain.
But a true friend silence makes more tears in heart.
******************************************************
Make your life a house your heart can live in.
With a door that is open to receive friends.
And a garden full of memories.... of many good things
******************************************************
But friendship is precious,
not only in the shade,
but in the sunshine of life;
and thanks to a benevolent
arrangement of things,
the greater part of life is sunshine

Friend Is SomeOne Special

A Friend is someone special
Sharing moments that are precious
Always true, yet like a perfect diamond
Are rare and few

Unconditional times are spent
Through laughter and tears
These memories will last
Through out the years

When you are troubled
And your burden is heavy
A friend is there
To chase away your tears and worries

A friend is always concerned for your well being
Lending advice for you to learn when needed
Never demanding or judgmental
A friend is truly sentimental

So always remember at any given day
A true friend showers you with love and sincerity
And forever in your heart they remain
Thank you for being my friend

We need friends for many reasons, all throughout the four seasons.

We need friends to comfort us when we are sad,

We need friends to give us good advice.
We need someone we can count on to treat us nice.

We need friends because we are social in nature,

Our Friendship Is as Close as Closest Sisters

Our friendship is as close as closest sisters,
Two flutes with a single melody,
Interchanging runs through changing vistas,
Notes like birds alighting on a tree.
To some, friends are like books upon a shelf;
Yet you to me are like another self.
This music will not stop for other misters,
Nor will it pause for princes, real or elf.
However life may wend, we will be we.

Your Friendship Is the Sky Above My Home

Your friendship is the sky above my home,
The crystal air I breathe, through which I see.
I can't believe how much you mean to me.
Without you with me, time would turn to stone.
I don't know why I need you so, or how
I know so absolutely I'll be there
In times your wounded heart can hardly bear.
I only know this truth is with me now.

Why is it in our lives that we need friends
To be awake and fully what we are?
Alone we dream but never cross the bar;
With you I share a grace that never ends.

It's Been So Good to Have You as a Friend

It's been so good to have you as a friend:
As sweet and rich as honey-colored sun
Slanting steep across a summer lawn,
Gilding life with all that love can lend.

And now that you yourself have griefs to tend,
I want to be the strong and caring one
To count to you the lovely things you've done
Until these troubles pass and sorrows end.

You are so beautiful in form and soul
That you bring happiness to all you're near:
Just as a sea rose, flowering in mist,
Makes a paradise of some bleak shoal,
Turning truth to something far more clear,
No pain unsoothed or rain-swept cheek unkissed.

A Good Definition of Real Friend

Friendship

Each of us has a hidden place
Somewhere deep within ourselves;
A place where we go to get away,
To think things through,
To be alone, to be ourselves.

This unique place, where we confront our deepest feelings,
becomes a storehouse of all our hopes,
All our need, all our Dreams,
And even our unspoken fears.
It encompasses the essence of who we are and what we want to be.

But now and then, whether by chance or design,
Someone discovers a way into that place we thought was ours alone.
And we allow that person to see, to feel and to share
All the reason, all the uncertainty
And all the emotion we've stored up there.

That person adds new perspective to our hidden realm,
Then quietly settles down in his own corner of our special place,
Where a bit of himself will stay forever.

And we call that person a FRIEND......

A Friendly Smile

Everything's gone wrong today
No one reacts to anything you say
No matter how much you scream and cry,
the world seems to be passing you by.
No one seems to notice or care,
that you are trying to be heard over your despair.

But on one face a smile shines through,
a smile that knows and cares about you.
A smile with love to lend,
on a face you recognize as a friend.

Inspirational Friendship Story - My Dog, My Buddy

A touching inspirational friendship story about why dogs do go to heaven. A must read for any dog lover!

An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice - grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on.

They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven"
he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him.

The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you." "What
kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If He can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now. " "Suit yourself, but I have to warn you,
the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but, the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road " So the old man and dog went on.

They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "Scuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?" "Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves
comfortable " "You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere." "Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?" " No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't
come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final. "

The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven." "You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?" "That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay.

They soon find out their mistake, but, then it's too late.

The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven.

After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

Funny Friendship Poem - Truth About Friends

My Friend
When you are sad,
I will get you drunk and help you plot revenge against the evil bastard who made you sad.

When you are blue, ...
I'll try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

When you smile, ...
I'll know you finally got laid.

When you are scared, ...
I will take the piss about it every chance I get.

When you are worried, ...
I will tell you horrible stories about how much
worse it could be and to quit whining.

When you are confused, ...
I will use little words to explain it to your dumb ass.

When you are sick, ...
Stay the hell away from me until you're well again.
I don't want whatever you have.

When you fall, ...
I will point and laugh at you.

This is my oath, ...I pledge till the end.

The Golden Chain Of Friendship

Friendship is like a golden chain, the links are friends so dear,
And like a rare and precious jewel it's treasured more each year...

It's clasped together firmly with a love deep and true,
And it's rich with happy memories and fond recollections, too...

Time can't destroy it's beauty for as long as memory lives,
Years can't erase the pleasure that the joy of friendship gives...

For friendship is a priceless gift that can't be bought or sold,
But to have an understanding friend is worth far more than gold...

And the golden chain of friendship is a strong and blessed tie
Binding kindred hearts together as the years go passing by.

Never Alone

He can calm the troubled waters
When you walk in dark despair.
There is hope when you feel helpless
Knowing that the Lord is there...

Sharing in your sunshine moments
Or in valleys deep and wide,
He will never, ever leave you-
He is always by your side.

There's no other friend so faithful
Through the sunshine and the rain,
Through the teardrops and the laughter,
In your joy and in your pain.

We could never, ever thank Him
For His Love He gives so free,
Never changing... never ending
Throughout all eternity

Oh, the wonders of all wonders
As we live from day to day
Knowing that we have a Father
Who is with us all the way.

A Smile for Your Friend!!!

Smile, though your heart is aching.

Smile, though it feels like breaking.

What? You don't feel like smiling today?

Oh, c'mon...there must be SOMETHING to smile about!

Let's see.... How about if you think about me?

Or, think about me thinking about you!

How about if I come over and give you a little squeeze...

Or a great big HUG!

Whatever it takes to make you smile I'll do it, because

That's What Friends Are For!

Friends in France

All my life I had fantasized about going to the south of France, and these imaginings conjured up the most profoundly warm feelings deep within my soul. The more I imagined going there, the more I felt compelled to do it.

When I was a flight attendant, I met a fellow flight attendant who had lived in Aix-en-Provence during college. I told him of my dream, and he jotted down the name of the family he had lived with eight years earlier. He handed me that paper and said, “If you ever do go, call them and give my regards.”

That piece of paper was a catalyst to my dream. The moment I received it, I decided I would simply have to go. I imagined renting a room in Aix from these people and living there for as long as I could. My images were intoxicating—lavender fields, herbes-de-provence, wine, cheese,
baguettes.

I knew I had to go, but I didn’t want to go alone. I decided to convince my friend Heidi to come with me. By now, my imagination had completely taken over; I was forming plans.

“Heidi, come with me,” I said. “I have friends we can stay with. It’ll be a great experience!” I wasn’t really lying. I had that piece of paper, and it felt very friendly.

I seduced Heidi with my imaginings, and with the assurance of “friends,” it didn’t take much to get her to go with me. I took a leave from my job, and two months later we were off. I had studied French in college and told Heidi I could speak it (although the truth was that I didn’t speak it very well). It didn’t matter. My imagination was filled with such lovely images of friends and fun that I felt what I knew was enough to get by. We packed our Sportsac suitcases and left with $500 apiece—a small fortune to us.

We were in a romantic, adventurous whirlwind until we hit Paris—expensive, impersonal, and overwhelming. We decided to leave after only one day.

“To the south, where the good life is!” we chanted, boarding the express train at the Gare de Lyon.

Halfway between Lyon and Marseilles, Heidi, now suffering serious culture shock and jet lag, asked me about my friends. Uh-oh. I was in trouble. I explained that I hadn’t met them yet, but not to worry.

She was horrified.

Clinging to my imaginings the rest of the way, I moved to the other side of the railroad car and looked up a cheap hotel in my Michelin guide. We arrived in Marseilles at midnight, and our taxi took us to the Hotel Martini, my one-star choice hotel. It was a seedy flophouse two blocks from the train station. Starving and grossed out by the hotel, we stuffed our money in our pockets and went looking for a place to eat.

Three blocks from the hotel, we happened upon a street fight between local drug dealers. We startled them, and they started chasing us, knives flashing. We ran screaming down the street, in fear for our lives.

As we raced around the corner back toward the hotel, a police paddy wagon shined its bright lights on us, and three cops jumped out of the wagon.

“Arretez-vous! (Stop!)” they shouted, guns pointing right at us.

We had only been in Marseilles thirty minutes, and already we had been mistaken for druggies or prostitutes and thrown into the back of a police paddy wagon! Not quite what I had imagined, but what an adventure. Heidi was in shock. I must have been, too, because I started laughing. The whole experience had become too weird for even my imagination. Heidi demanded that I explain who we were, that we were lost and hungry and scared and . . .

“I can’t,” I finally admitted. “I don’t know enough French!”

After a few more scary minutes, I managed to say, “We are lost!” in French. The cops conversed wildly, guns still pointed at us, eyes darting back and forth to us, to each other, and then . . . the guns went down.

In broken English, one policeman said, “Americans, no? You lost? Need a room?

Yes?”

“Yes, yes!” we screamed. “Oui, oui!” Our heads bobbed like apples in a bucket of water.

He took pity on us. He bantered back and forth passionately with the three other cops for a few more minutes, and then said, “No worry. I help.”

We were whisked to the safety of a beautiful country manor in Aix, our original destination! The policeman’s grandmother fed us, and we were given a wonderful room overlooking a hillside of lavender, just as I had imagined.

“See, Heidi?” I said, finally drifting off to sleep in my cozy bed after our exhausting thirty-six-hour ordeal. “I told you we had friends in the south of France!”

Such good friends, in fact, that I ended up living there rent-free for six months!

If Nobody Smiled

If nobody smiled and nobody cared
and nobody helped us along.

If every moment looked after itself and
good things always went to the strong;

If nobody cared just a little about you
and nobody cared about me,

and we stood alone, in the battle of life,
What a sad old world this would be.

Life is sweet, 'cuz of friends we have made
and the things that we choose to share.

We want to live on, enjoying ourselves,
and enjoying the people who care.

It is doing and giving for somebody else
on which all of life's beauty depends.

The joy of this world,
when you've summed it all up,
is found in the making of friends.

Friends Are Gift

As we walk our path of life,
We meet people everyday.
Most are simply met by chance.
But, some are sent our way.

These become special friends
Whose bond we can't explain;
The ones who understand us
And share our joy and pain.

Their love contains no boundaries.
So, even we are apart.
Their presence enhances us
With a warmth felt in the heart.

This love becomes a passageway,
When even the miles disappear.
And so, these friends, God sends our way,
Remain forever near

Timmy's Wish

It was under an old banyan tree on the school playground in Hawaii that I first met Timmy. I was an elementary school teacher and he was a gregarious five-year-old. As the school year progressed, a special friendship began to evolve between us. It was the Summer Fun Program at our school that really brought us together.

One day in mid-August, I was in the school office when Timmy's teacher came running in with Timmy. He was sobbing and the teacher was nearly hysterical. The bathroom door had slammed on his finger. She had a handkerchief wrapped around Timmy's index finger and wasn't sure how much of it was left because it was bleeding so much. Our school bus driver rushed them immediately to the emergency room.

A few minutes later the phone rang at the school. It was the doctor asking if we had found the tip of Timmy's finger. He said there was a small chance of saving it if we could get it to him quickly. Pulling myself out of a daze, I ran to the bathroom. Sure enough, there it was. After carefully wrapping it up, I grabbed my car keys and headed for the emergency unit. The doctor was waiting for me. Unfortunately, the fingertip had already turned blue. As he took the tiny piece of flesh in his hand, I knew from the look on his face that it was too late. With a sinking heart I quietly asked,

"Where's Timmy?"

The doctor pointed to a room down the hall. "He's soaking his finger in a solution to stop the bleeding."

"Can I see him for a few minutes?" I asked.

"Of course," he said and gestured toward the door.

Timmy was lying on a flat gurney. He must have been sobbing a lot because his chest was still heaving as I approached the bed.

"Hi, Timmy," I said, gently brushing the tears from his cheeks. "How are you doing?"

"Okay," he whimpered, trying to hold back his tears.

I felt helpless, unable to take the pain away from my little friend. Then suddenly an idea came to me. Bending over, I whispered in his ear, "Timmy, did you know that geckos [our Hawaiian lizards] grow their tails back and little boys can grow their fingers back too?" Timmy's soft green eyes grew wide with excitement.

"They can?" he asked, obviously astonished by the thought.

"Yep, they can!" I answered with certainty.

"How?" he asked.

"Close your eyes and I'll show you."

My family has lived in the Hawaiian Islands for five generations and I wanted to teach him an ancient Hawaiian healing method that I had learned in my youth. I had studied this process under the direction of special kupuna, and it is based on visual imagery and affirmation.

As Timmy closed his eyes, I began, "Good. Now Timmy, inside your head you have a little voice. Do you know the voice I am talking about?"

"Uh-huh." Timmy nodded, his eyes still closed tightly. "With that voice inside your head, tell your finger how much you love it and how much you need it." I could see Timmy's little face focused in deep concentration. "Tell your finger that you need it to dial the phone." I paused, watching his little lips silently repeat my words. "And to write your sentences in school." I paused again so he could say the words after me. "And tell it how much you need it to point at things." I waited for another moment and then continued, "Now just say, 'Grow for me finger, grow. I love you and I need you.'"

After a few moments, Timmy opened his eyes.

"How was that?" I asked.

Timmy's tear-stained face glowed. I continued, "Remember to do this every time you think of it during the day and wish your finger well." Kissing him on the forehead, I said my good-byes and started toward the door. Then I suddenly realized something. If the adults in his life are not aware of the real power of this technique, they might discourage him. Not wanting limiting beliefs to swallow up Timmy's possibilities for a miracle, I returned to his bedside.

"Timmy," I told him, "let's wait until your finger is completely healed before we tell anybody about this special technique."

"Okay," he replied.

A few days later, Timmy arrived back in school with a large bandage on his finger. With a big grin on his face, he walked up to me and said quietly, "I'm talking to my finger every day, wishing it well, and it's listening to me." Weeks later, with a joyful burst of energy, Timmy sprinted towards me. He proudly pulled the bandage off to show me the result if 'his work.' "See," he said, "It's growing back really good!"

A year later, Timmy came to say good-bye to me. He and his family were moving to another neighborhood. Timmy's finger was completely healed. It was round and padded just as any index finger should be. Only a fine hairline scar remained.

Timmy remains forever in my heart as a constant reminder of the possibility of miracles. From him, I have learned to challenge the thought of failure as it comes into my mind. To this day, Timmy inspires me to reach beyond the accepted knowledge of the times, and to remember the kupuna wisdom that teaches all things are possible if you truly believe.

Forever Friend

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life by being a part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe that there is really good in this world.
Someone who convinces you that there is
an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.
This is Forever Friendship.

When you're down, and the world seems dark and empty,
your Forever Friend lifts you up in spirit
and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full.

Your Forever Friend gets you through the hard times,
and the sad times, and the confused times.

If you turn and walk away your Forever Friend follows.
If you lose your way, your Forever Friend guides you and cheers you on.

Your Forever Friend holds your hand
and tells you that everything is going to be a-okay.
And when you find such a Friend, you'll feel happy and complete,
because you need not worry.

You Have A "Forever Friend" For Life
and Forever has No end.

My Online Friends

Maybe you don't look me right in the eye
Maybe you can't ever wipe my tears when I cry
Maybe we can't share some tea and honey so sweet
Or walk together down a path, or up the street

But, we can still be good friends, because you see
We met on the internet, you and me
And when you have a cyber friend, it matters not
How you look, what you wear, or what you've got

I don't care if your last name is Smith or Jones
Or if your size is perfect, plump, or skin and bones
You're there for me and I appreciate you
You've been a pal through thick and thin

You shared my glad times
And in my sad times, you made me grin
So I send this greeting card to you, dear friend so fine
To tell you, I'm so glad you're a pal of mine

And here's a hug, though not with arms
For that can't be...
But it's a hug, straight from my heart
To you, from me

Best Friendship Poem

Friend and Friends Forever
A friend is a friend forever.
They'll ignite a flame of love
And set your heart aglow,
And light up your life
From your head down to your toe.

A faithful friend is always there
To lend a helping hand.
They'll be there to defend your honor
And take a firm or gentle stand.

When you least expect it,
They may drop in to say,
"Hello, how have you been?
I love you with all my heart,
My true and special friend."

A friend will add beauty to your life,
Like a sweet scented flower.
A good conversation may last into the night
Or for many, many, hours.

They will take time to stop and listen,
When your life is in doubt.
That's what a good friend's love is all about.
A hug, a smile, a tear, or a gentle touch.

These are the things a
forever friend will say and do...
For, they love you forever
and always, so very very much.

Beautiful Friendship Poem

Forever Friendship

Friends do things for one another
They understand
They go a million miles out of their way
They hold your hand
They bring you smiles
when a smile is exactly what you needed.

They listen and they hear
what is said in the spaces between the words
They care and they let you know
you're in their prayers.

Friends always know the perfect thing to do
they can make your whole day
just by saying something that no one else
could have said.

Sometimes you feel like the two of you
share a secret language
that others can't tune in to.

A friend can guide you, inspire you,
comfort you, or light up your life with laughter.
A friend understands your moods
and nurtures your needs.
A friend lovingly knows just what you're after.

When your feelings come from deep inside
and they need to be spoken to someone
you don't have to hide from,
you share them with a friend.

When good news comes
a friend is the first one you turn to
When feelings overflow
and tears need to fall
friends help you through it all.

Friends bring sunlight into your life
They warm your life with their presence
whether they are far away
or close by your side.

A friend is a gift
that brings happiness
and a treasure
that money can't buy.

Nice Friendship Poem

To My Friend

Of all the people in my life,

From beginning to the end.

You’ve Been a special blessing,

My dear friend and faithful friend.

You’ve filled my life with laughter,

Shared sorrows, joys and tears.

You’ve stood by me & held my hand,

Walked with me through the years.

When I needed someone to listen,

I knew you would always be there.

When I weathered the storms of life,

You were always the one who cared.

So in the circle we call life,

From beginning to the end.

I was blessed to have you beside me,

My dear and faithful friend.

Friendly Thought

In thoughts--I often visit you
And we share a laugh--or two
And talk of things we both hold dear
Like memories--both old and new.

We share our heartaches, and our joys,
Cause that's what friends are for.
Knowing we can be "ourselves"
To hearts with an "open door".

Advice is free, and its meant to be
A caring gesture of love.
With never a judgment for our mistakes,
But a haven from life's push and shove.

Though time and miles stretch between us.
With contentment, I've found what I sought.
As I smile---and sigh in remembering.
My visits to you----in a thought.

True Friendhsip Poem

A True Friend

In life, its not the obvious things
that are important,
It's the seemingly insignificant
and often unseen things
that we appreciate.

The friend who asks us
how we are and genuinely wants
to know the answer.

The friend with the shoulder
wet from our tears
who makes time to listen to us again.

The friend who smiles
with their eyes
as well as their mouth.

The friend who says "I care"
simply by being there for you.

But most important of all
is the friend who knows you
with all your imperfections and shortcomings
and still loves you,
just the way you are.

True Friends Are Like Morning...

True friends are like mornings, u cant have them the whole day, but u can be sure, they will be there when u wakeup tomorrow, next year and forever.

God picked up a flower...
God picked up a flower and dipped it in a DEW, lovingly touched it which turned in to u, and the he gifted to me and said,
THIS FRIEND IS 4U.

Age appears to be best in some things...
Age appears to be best in some things. Old wood best to burn. Old books best to read. Old rice best to eat and old friends best to keep

Moon said to me to leave your friend...
Moon said to me, if ur friend is not messaging u why dont you leave ur friend.I looked at moon and said does ur sky ever leave u when u dont shine.

Friendship is not a Game to Play...
Friendship is not a game to play, It is not a word to say, It doesn't start on March and ends on May,
It is tomorrow, yesterday, today and everyday.

The Color's Of Friendship

Once upon a time,
The colors of the world
Started to quarrel.
All claimed they were the best,
The most important,
The most useful,
The favorite.

"GREEN" said,
"Clearly I am the most important ...
I am the sign of life and of hope;
I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves,
Without me, all animals would die;
Look over the countryside
And you will see that I am in the majority."

"BLUE" interrupted,
"You only think about the earth,
But consider the sky and the sea ...
It is the water that is the basis of life
And it is drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea;
The sky gives space and peace and serenity,
Without my peace, you would all be nothing."

"YELLOW" chuckled,
"You are all so serious ...
I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world,
The sun, the moon and the stars are all yellow;
Every time you look at a sunflower,
The whole world starts to smile,
Without me there would be no fun."

"ORANGE" started next to blow her trumpet ...
"I am the color of health and strength,
I may be scarce, but I am precious
For I serve the needs of human life,
I carry the most important vitamins;
Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, and mangoes,
I don't hang around all the time,
But when I do, I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset,
My beauty is so striking that no one gives
Another thought to any of you."

"RED" could stand it no longer so he shouted out ...
"I am the ruler of all of you!
I am blood ... life's blood!
I am the color of danger and of bravery,
I am willing to fight for a cause,
I bring fire into the blood;
Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon,
I am the color of passion and of love,
The red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy."

"PURPLE" rose up to his full height,
He was very tall and spoke with great pomp ...
"I am the color of royalty and power,
Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me
For I am the sign of authority and wisdom,
People do not question me! They listen and obey."

Finally "INDIGO" spoke,
Much more quietly than all the others,
But with just as much determination ...
"Think of me. I am the color of silence,
You hardly notice me,
But without me you all become superficial;
I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water,
You need me for balance and contrast,
For prayer and inner peace."

And so the colors went on boasting,
Each convinced of his or her own superiority.
Their quarreling became louder and louder.
Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightning!
Thunder rolled and boomed!
Rain started to pour down relentlessly.
The colors crouched down in fear,
Drawing close to one another for comfort.

In the midst of the clamor, "RAIN" began to speak ...
"You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves,
Each trying to dominate the rest;
Don't you know that you were each made
For a special purpose, unique and different?
Join hands with one another and come to me."

Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands.
The rain continued,
"From now on, when it rains,
Each of you will stretch across the sky
In a great bow of color as a reminder
That you can all live in peace.
The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow."

Friendship Poem

May our friendship last forever;
May I sail upon your sea.
May we go through life together;
May there always be a "we."

May I be your endless sky;
May you breathe my gentle air.
May you never wonder why
Each time you look for me, I'm there.

May we be for each a smile
Like the warm, life-giving sun;
Yet when we're in pain awhile,
May our suffering be one.

May we share our special days,
The happiness of one for two;
And if we must go separate ways,
Let my love remain with you.

Friends Forever

“Hey, Jenna, do you think we’ll still be friends when we’re eighty-two?” I stopped bouncing on the trampoline when I saw a puzzled look on my friend’s face. Boy, did her look say it all! It was clear she was wondering where in the world I had come up with such a random question. Being such good friends, it had become easy to read each other’s minds. So, while I waited for Jenna to answer, I started wondering what life would be like without her.

Definitely not the same, that’s for sure! Losing Jenna would be like losing a very close sister. We hang out together as often as we can. We laugh together. We cry together. We give each other advice. We even look a little bit alike. When I spend the night at her house, I feel like part of Jenna’s family. If it weren’t for Jenna, I don’t know where in my life’s journey I would be, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be here.

Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted. “Of course, we’ll still be friends when we’re eighty-two,” Jenna announced loudly. I gave Jenna a friendly stare, and she returned it. We stared at each other until we were laughing so hard that tears were streaming down my face. That moment was one of the most important in our friendship together and, as you might have guessed, eighty-two was our new magic number. But that’s not where the story ends.

The next year, in fourth grade, we met Jamie. Jamie had just moved from California, and since she lived in the same neighborhood as Jenna and me, the three of us soon clicked into a really tight group of friends. We played together almost every day. We shared our biggest secrets and crushes, and even came up with crazy ideas to make a little extra cash for the summer. I was happy to have reached out to Jamie as well as getting even closer to my other good friends. Things couldn’t have been better, and I thought even time couldn’t pull us apart, but that is where I was sadly mistaken.

The three of us started fighting a lot—and not just small fights where your friend won’t return a CD you let her borrow. No, these fights involved hurt feelings, crying, taking sides, nasty e-mails, and mean glares. Before Christmas, we had a really big fight, and it was just my luck that Jamie and Jenna were ganging up on me, both saying I was bossy and couldn’t keep my mouth closed. I felt helpless and alone. They wouldn’t even talk to me at school unless they had some mean insult for me. I had very little hope for the future, and I was almost positive that Christmas, my birthday, and New Year’s Day would be horrible! Why is this happening to me? I thought. How can I not even know what I did and have things end up this bad?

That’s why I was surprised when Jenna came to my house and gave me an awesome Christmas card she had made for me. I was so sure that she was still disappointed with me, and now I was getting a really nice card that she even made herself. Is time going to prove me wrong once again?

“Wow,” I said, breaking the silence as we stood on either side of my front door.

“Thanks.”

“Okay . . . well . . . I have to go,” she said softly.

“Okay. See you later then. . . .” and I closed the door and headed back to my mom’s bedroom to finish watching a movie.

“Who was that at the door?” my mom asked.

“It was Jenna,” I explained, showing her the card. I pressed play on the VCR, but I wasn’t watching the TV screen. Instead, I was admiring the front of the card, which was decorated with snowmen, snowflakes, and a perfect image of Santa Claus. After a few minutes of admiring the front, I decided to peek inside.

The card started off with “Merry Christmas” (what else would you put in a Christmas card?), but then, farther down the page, it said, “I am so glad we’re friends. I am sorry about what I said when we were fighting. A fight won’t stop us from being friends. Besides, we said we were going to be friends even when we’re eighty-two.”

I stopped reading and started laughing. I couldn’t believe I had forgotten what she said that day in her back yard. I couldn’t believe I had been so selfish in trying to get even and making my friends feel sorry for me that I had forgotten about real friendship.

Instead of drifting farther and farther apart, and eventually going our separate ways, like my friendship with Jamie, Jenna and I held strong, even through the bad times. Jenna ended up being my true friend. Isn’t that what a true friend is? Someone who chooses to stick with you every day of your life, even when you’re eighty-two.

Friendship Wish

May there always be work for your hands to do;

May your purse always hold a coin or two;

May the sun always shine on your window pane;

May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;

May the hand of a friend always be near you;

May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

What Do We Want From A Friend?

That is a question we often will ask.
And, what do we need from a friend?
Loyalty, we know that is true.
But, is that enough in the end?

We know there must be trust
So secrets we can safely share.
And, when we are sad and hurt
That someone is there to care.

We want a friend to feel our joy
When happiness comes our way.
When we complete a difficult chore.
It’s a cheering friend that “makes our day”.

We want to know three will be a hand
Help out to us when trouble brings on fear.
When everything in life feels so empty
We need to feel their spirit hover near.

But, along with all the rest of these,
It must include a special kind of love.
Hard to explain, but, one that you know
Comes as a blessing from heaven above.

So, if you have found a special one
Who shares these things with you,
Make sure your words are always kind
And deeds are helpful that you do.

While friendship bounds may feel strong
They are also very fragile, it is true.
A thoughtless word, an unkind deed,
And a friends heart can be broken by you.

Miracle Of Friendship

There is a miracle called friendship

that dwells within the heart,

And you don't know how it happens

or how it gets it's start...

But the happiness it brings

will always give a special lift,

And you realize that friendship

is God's most precious gift!

The Light Of Friendship

I've seen the light
And it's in you,
In everything you are
And in everything you do.

It's a perfect light
That shines for all to see.
It radiates from you
And has pierced the heart of me.

The light is from a friend.
It's a light that keeps me warm.
It lets me know how loved I am,
And keeps me safe from harm.

To you my friend I am thankful,
In each and every way.
For you lift my spirits up,
With every passing day.

To know that you are there for me,
It makes me feel alive.
Because it is your friendship's light,
Upon which my love thrives.

Thank you isn't good enough,
But they're the only words I know.
It is your light of friendship,
That gives my world its glow.

True Friendship Poem

I'll Be There
By Beth Schmidt

When troubles, dangers, and sorrows befall you,
And you're looking all around for someone to turn to,
I'll be there.

When your spirit sinks into the depths of despair,
And just wish for a moment the world was fair,
I'll be there.

When one you have loved has passed away,
And, although I know there's nothing I can say,
I'll be there.

So, when the world has turned its back to you,
And you're looking for a light to help you through,
I'll be there.

Because that's what friends are for, day after day,
No matter how many times... to be able to say,
I'll be there.

Friendship Poem

You are friendly, kind and caring
Sensitive, loyal and understanding
Humorous, fun, secure and true
Always there... yes that's you.

Special, accepting, exciting and wise
Truthful and helpful, with honest blue eyes
Confiding, forgiving, cheerful and bright
Yes that's you... not one bit of spite.

You're one of a kind, different from others
Generous, charming, but not one that smothers
Optimistic, thoughtful, happy and game
But not just another... in the long chain.

Appreciative, warm and precious like gold
Our friendship won't tarnish or ever grow old
You'll always be there, I know that is true
I'll always be here... always for you.

You Are My Friend

Standing by,
All the way.
Here to help you through your day.

Holding you up,
When you are weak,
Helping you find what it is you seek.

Catching your tears,
When you cry.
Pulling you through when the tide is high.

Just being there,
Through thick and thin,
All just to say, you are my friend.

A Special Friend

All I ever wanted
Was a friend
Not just any friend
A special friend

You were more than
A friend to me
You just had to blow it
With a mouthful of lies

Since then you've become
Nothing to me
Just another person on
My list to ignore

All I ever wanted
Was a friend
Not just any friend
A special friend

I couldn't trust you
With my words
For you would just
Tell me off

I couldn't trust you
With myself
I knew you would
Hurt it

All I ever wanted
Was a friend
Not just any friend
A special friend

True Friendship

Friendship is the kind of love
that never can grow old.
Warm and cozy it will stay
when other things are cold.
Friendship is a love so true
it won't be denied,
Because a friend will always be
there close by your side.
Selfish friends and lovers come and go
in this game of life we play,
But a true friend, no matter what,
in your heart will always stay.
So hold these friends dear to you,
and never let them go.
Think how much they mean to you,
and make sure to tell them so

What is Freindship?

Friendship is a network
that need no recharge,
no roaming,
no activation,
no signal problems,
Just make sure
you don't switch off your heart

Friendship is like standing
on a wet cement...
the longer you stay,
the harder its to leave
and you can never go
without leaving your footprints...

One of the best moments
of life is to meet an
old friend after years
and feel that things haven't changed
and you realise how much
you missed having him around...

Friendship is needless,
like philosophy, like art
it has no survival value,
rather it is one
of those things that
give value to survival

Friendship is like a
tennis match;
To win, you have to serve well,
and always remember
it begins with love all

This message has no fat,
no cholestrol and no additives.
Only natural flavours of
care and love and joy
it contains sweetness
but not as SWEET as you

~ Thanks to Jasmine

Friends 'til The End....

Friends 'til the end,
That's what we always said,
Even when all hopes were dead.

Friends 'til the end,
We will always be,
Nothing can ever come between you and me.

Friends 'til the end,
Even when nothing will bend,
Our friendship we will always mend.

Friends 'til the end,
There's nothing we can't overcome,
I know you'll be there when I need someone.

Friends 'til the end,
We will never part,
As long as we have each other in our hearts.

Friends 'til the end,
Lies never told,
Standing together so strong and so bold.

Friends 'til the end,
With nowhere to begin,
I know I'll never be without you as a friend.

Friends 'til the end,
You can cry on my shoulder,
That's what I've always told her.

Friends 'til the end,
Through sun and snow,
While others still come and go.

Friends 'til the end,
When my light fades away,
She brings back the sunlight into my day.

Friends 'til the end,
Nothing else in mind,
Someone who's always there when you're in a bind.

Friends 'til the end,
All throughout time,
I'm proud to say you're a friend of mine.

Friends 'til the end,
Even with a fight,
We'll always be friends again that night.

Friend 'til the end,
Through thick and thin,
A strong friendship will always win.

Friends 'til the end,
Through laughter and tears,
With a friend you can overcome any fears.

Friend 'til the end,
We share all our dreams,
We will make it by any means.

Friends 'til the end,
Our hopes will all come true,
There's no other pair like me and you.

Friends 'til the end,
Through highs and lows,
When we're together anything goes.

Friends 'til the end,
We're in the same boat,
But it will always stay afloat.

Friends 'til the end,
I'll never be alone again,
As long as I have you as a friend.

Friends 'til the end,
No matter what people say,
We will always go our own way.

We may take other paths,
And go separate ways,
But we'll always meet at the bend,
Because we're friends 'til the end.

Friendship is All About...

Friendship is all about trust and care
For each other to be there
Without a friend you will be lonely and horrible
Sometimes it is so adorable
Just the way two friends support each other
Always remember you can rely on your mother
There must be no secrets between you
Otherwise your friendship is not true
And you have no clue what friendship is all about

That’s Why We Need Friends

We need friends for many reasons, all throughout the four seasons.

We need friends to comfort us when we are sad,
and to have fun with us when we are glad.

We need friends to give us good advice.
We need someone we can count on to treat us nice.

We need friends because we are social in nature,
and having friends makes us feel secure.

We need friends to remember us once we have passed
sharing memories that will always last.

That’s why I need YOU!

Inspiring Story - Friendship Has No Fear

A soldier approached his officer; seeking his permission to fetch his friend, not yet back from the battlefield. The officer refused permission stating that his friend would be probably dead. There was no point in going out and losing his life, too, the officer said.

Unmindful of the consequence, the soldier went and an hour later returned, mortally wounded, carrying his dead friend.

The officer was furious; “Ï told you he was dead. Now I’ve lost both of you. Tell me, was it worth going out there to bring in a corpse”

The dying man replied, “Öh, it was sir. When I got to him he was still alive. And he said to me, ‘Jack, I was sure you would come.”

Friendship has no fear. It expresses itself in sacrifice. Humanity survives purely because of love for each other.

Who walks along with you
in the journey of life

A friend should Be Radical

Hug you when Your're Unhuggable
And bear you when you're Unbareable

A Freind should be Fanatical
They should Cheer when the whole world Boos

And Cry when you Cry Too

But most of all, A friend should be Mathematical
They should Multiply Your Joy

Great Friendship Poem

ALWAYS LOVE

Love comes in all sizes...

Your Friends will support you....

And respect your creativity
for thinking outside the box....

They'll be there when you need a
shoulder to lean on....

Or a great big hug....

A true friend takes interest in
understanding what you're all about....

And accept you just the way you are.
Even when you just wake up in the morning

So make your own kind of music....

Follow your heart wherever it takes you....

And when someone reaches out to you,
Don't be afraid to love them back....

They may just be a friend for life....

Practice patience and tolerance.

The Best Of Friends

The best of friends,
Can change a frown,
Into a smile,
when you feel down.

The best of friends,
Will understand,
Your little trials,
And lend a hand.

The best of friends,
Will always share,
Your secret dreams,
Because they care.

The best of friends,
Worth more than gold,
Give all the love,
A heart can hold.

You Are There For Me.

Words escape me
at this moment
that seems like the end
yet it is only the beginning
when friendships are close
and dreams are far
you were there for me.
Tears fill me
with memories of both good and bad
some nearly forgetton
yet all dear to the heart
you were there for me.
In times of trouble
and in times of thanks
you stood by my side
and held me up.
Through your ever-patient ears
to your comforting hugs
you were there for me.
From that first day
when I saw you and knew
that you would love me for who I was
you were there for me.
And until the day
when we are old and gray
I will always know that
you are there for me.

Beautiful Friendship Lines !

There's lots of things
With which I'm blessed,
My problems have been few,
But of all, this one's the best:
To have a friend like you.
In times of trouble
Friends will say,
"Just ask, I'll help you through it."
But you don't wait for me to ask,
You just get up and do it!
And I can think
of nothing more
That I could wisely do,
Than know a friend,
And be a friend,
And have a friend like you.

Simple And Good Friendship Quotes !

Everyone Should Have A Friend Like You

Everyone should have a friend like you
You are so much fun to be with
And you are such a good person
You crack me up with laughter
And touch my heart with your kindness
You have a wonderful ability
To know when to offer advice
And when to sit in quiet support
Time after time
You've come to my rescue
And brightened so many of my routine days
And time after time
I've realized how fortunate
I am that my life includes you
I really do believe that
Everybody should have a friend like you
But so far it looks like
You are one of a kind!

~ Umakant Gupta.

When to the session of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow,
For precious friends hid in death's dateless night,
And weep afresh love's long since cancelled woe,
And moan the expense of many a vanish¹d sight:
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restored and sorrows end.
